Rental Policies
Minimum age to rent a vehicle is 21, and the maximum rental age is 75 years.
Drivers between the ages of 21 and 24 will incur an additional daily charge of $9 USD.
Collision Damage Waiver-Theft Protection (CDW) is not insurance. The purchase of CDW is optional and not required in order to rent a vehicle.
You may purchase optional CDW for an additional fee. If you purchase CDW, we agree, subject to the actions listed on the rental agreement that invalidate CDW, to contractually waive your responsibility for all or part of the cost of damage to, loss, fire or theft of, the vehicle.
CDW does not cover partial theft (mirrors, tires, gas cap, etc...) or damages to windows/windshields.
The daily price of Mini to Full-size is $20.00 with a deductible listed below. The daily price of Premium to Full-Size SUV is $23.00 with a deductible listed below.
CDW has a deductible and is as follows:
$1000 - Mini, Economy, Compact, Standard and Premium SUV
$1700 - Fullsize, Standard, Intermediate, Luxury, Premium, Specialty, Wagons and Convertibles
$2000 - Premium Sport, Standard Manual SUV
$2500 - Intermediate and MiniVan
$4000 - Fullsize SUV, Intermediate SUV, Standard, Premium, Luxury and Specialty Vans
Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)The purchase of personal accident insurance is optional and not required to rent a vehicle.
PAI covers medical bills for driver and passengers of rental vehicle only (up to maximum vehicle capacity). This covers $9,000 USD per accident in Cancun. * PAI covers up to $50,000 USD per accident.
The daily rate for all vehicles is $4.00
Third Party Liability Protection (TPL) is required in all vehicles. Customers have the option to purchase Third Party Liability (TPL) Protection or show proof of a valid current liability insurance policy specifying coverage in Mexico. Additional security deposit is required in the amount of $2,500 USD to be held on their credit card.
TPL provides you with minimum financial responsibility limits as outlined in the applicable motor vehicle financial responsibility laws of the country where the vehicle is operated.
TPL provides liability coverage up to 70,000 USD. TPL does not cover the rental vehicle, passenger or medical expenses. Liability insurance products purchased on third party travel websites are not acceptable forms of coverage. If LTPL - Limited Third Party Liability is included in your rate, LTPL provides liability insurance up to 750,000 MXN
The daily rate for Mini to Fullsize is $19.00 and the daily rate for Premium to Fullsize SUV is $20.00
Cancún International Airport (CUN) Car Hire FAQs
The cost of a rental car depends on many factors and can vary greatly. These factors include:
- The length of time you are renting the car
- Car class selected
- Rental location
- Added insurance or protection products
- Additional products selected
- If you have to modify your reservation
- If you have to extend your reservation
- If you have to change your rental drop-off location
For the most accurate pricing, start a reservation.
To rent a car from Enterprise Rent-A-Car in the United States and Canada, you will need the following:
- To be 25 years old
- A valid driving licence with a photo
- A photo ID (for example: a driving licence or passport)
- Credit or debit card (check the acceptable forms of payment at the location you're renting from)
Some locations may require additional information, including but not limited to:
- An International Driving Permit (IDP): If the licence is written in a language or characters different from those of the country of rental, an IDP is also required. Renters are advised to check whether local authorities require foreign drivers to present an International Driving Permit to avoid the risk of potential fines. Renters with licences from countries that are not part of the International Driving Permit Agreement should carry a certified translation.
- Return travel and accommodation information: Visitors to the UK must also provide proof of return travel and accommodation information while in the UK.
As a customer, you have a choice as to how you would like to pay for fuel.
Fuel policy at non-airport locations:
- You may refuel the vehicle to the same fuel level you received when you picked up the vehicle, or if you choose not to refuel the vehicle to the same fuel level, you will be charged the local Enterprise rate which is typically above the local pump price. An additional refuelling charge may apply at some locations.
- A full tank of fuel is not guaranteed.
Fuel policy at airport car rental locations:
- You may refuel the vehicle to the same fuel level you received when you picked up the vehicle, or if you choose not to refuel the vehicle to the same fuel level, you will be charged the local Enterprise rate which is typically above the local pump price. An additional refuelling charge may apply at some locations.
- You may opt to pre-pay for fuel — pre-pay gives you two conveniences:
- You can avoid the hassle of having to fuel up the vehicle before returning.
- The pre-pay fuel option is calculated at the local rate of fuel minus a per gallon discount.
Note: Pre-paid fuel is only sold in full tanks at the discounted price per gallon and is not refundable. Local fuel rates will vary by the area you are renting a vehicle.
